Shell’s New Office in Kiev is the First “Green” Scheme in Ukraine

Jones Lang LaSalle has completed the headquarters’ certification process

Kiev, 6 February, 2014 — Jones Lang LaSalle has completed the green certification process of Shell’s new Ukrainian headquarters in Kiev and after thorough evaluation by experts, has been awarded a LEED Gold rating - making the office the first “green” property in the country.

The energy giant’s office is located in the class A business centre at Krasnoarmeyskaya st., 100. The leasing transaction of the 2,900 sq m 8th floor office space was previously closed by Jones Lang LaSalle in 2013.

While preparing and implementing the office project, Jones Lang LaSalle specialists took into account all requirements set for modern energy efficient buildings. Particular attention was paid to energy efficiency, water saving, lighting and employees’ comfort and subsequently achieved particularly high scores in these categories in the certification process.

The project boasts innovative design features, some of which were used in the Ukraine for the first time, including waterless urinals, water saving plumbing fixtures, LED lightning and DALI sensors and finishing materials with recycled content.

The project team consisted of Jones Lang LaSalle specialists during office development, project management and the certification process and engineering company TRK (general contractor).

Ksenia Agapova, Sustainability Manager, Project & Development Services, Jones Lang LaSalle, Russia & CIS, commented: “Green development and international environmental standards such as BREEAM and LEED has become common practice for advanced development projects in Europe and the USA with most landmark projects now embracing green technologies. The main consumers of these standards are international tenants and investors most of which consider environment and energy efficiency an integral part of their business objectives. To stay in line with European expectations, the advancement and implementation of green technologies had come to Ukraine too and we are very pleased to have been so closely involved in the first scheme.”
